N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown’s City Attorney Ken Dalstad has reviewed the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corporation’s bylaws and has found that it can purchase the proposed 43 acres in Prairie Haven.

Dalstad stated that the bylaws did not expressly deny the purchasing land for the use of retail. JSDC Attorney Joe Larson agreed. The proposal that Katie Anderson brought up during the last JSDC Executive Board meeting would have the JSDC purchase 43 acres of a 73 acre lot for use of a large home improvement retail store.

It was also learned that the purchasing of the land would cost $5.6 million, using a majority of the $5.97 million dollar budget of the JSDC. JSDC did not take any action on purchasing the land.
