N.D. (NewsDakota.com) North Dakota U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp will travel to Valley City and Jamestown to address a number of issues including early education and several other issues of concern to North Dakotans.

Heitkamp will tour the Valley City Head Start facility Thursday at 9:45am to hear about the effects of across-the-board spending cuts on students, staff and community. Heitkamp says the facility has been unable to provide necessary services, make appropriate additions and hire enough staff to keep at pace with the growing community due to the lack of federal funds. Heitkamp has been a vocal advocate of investing in Head Start so children in struggling families can get the education they deserve.

Meanwhile in Jamestown Heitkamp  will serve lunch to the senior citizens as a way to give back to the community around the holidays, and encourage other North Dakotans to donate their time this holiday season.  Heitkamp will be at the James River Community Center Friday at 11:45am. The public is encouraged to attend any of these scheduled stops by Senator Heitkamp.
