(NewsDakota.com) The 2013-14 season begins for the Oakes High School boys basketball team Friday night when they head to Wyndmere to play Wyndmere-Lidgerwood in a Class B District 1 match.

Oakes has won just nine games total the last three years, the same amount that Bradon Bata’s squad won his first year as the head coach, which was back in the 2008-08 season. After finishing the two previous years with two wins each, the Tornadoes finished last year with five victories, and Coach Bata says this year’s bunch is ready to go and improve as a team.

Oakes starts a two game road swing in two nights with the contest in Wyndmere. The Tornadoes will head to Tower City Saturday night to face Maple Valley. Coverage of both games is set for around 7:15 on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com
