(NewsDakota.com)- A season removed from a one-win conference season, the Jamestown boy’s basketball team already has matched that win total in 2013-14 and it only took one game. The Jays picked up their first win of the season Tuesday night in a WDA contest against Mandan, 76-70.
Jamestown trailed by 11 at one-point in the first half, but showed some resiliency and kept battling. When Nick Fuchs’ three-pointer swished through as the first-half buzzer sounded the Jays had successfully completed the comeback, tying the game at 35 into half.
Logan Anderson paced the Jays in the first half with 12 points, scoring 12 of the first 16 for Jamestown. They struggled to find ways to score early without Anderson on the floor, but the Jays rectified that.
Ashton Johnson hit four from outside the arch including three in the second as part of his game-high 20 to lead Jamestown.
Mandan had five players in double-figures, but only seven different Braves scored in the game.
Jamestown is 1-0 and will host Davies on Saturday night. Coverage of that game can be heard on 1400/97.1 KQDJ and NewsDakota.com.
