N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council met for their monthly meeting on Monday, January 6th.

Some items that were discussed include the Essentia Health Care Site being adopted into the Renaissance Zone. A Jamestown resident, Mike Schwartz, came before the council to get more information on the benefits of introducing the Essentia Site into the Zone.

“Metro Plains could get a 5 year tax exemptions by improving by 50% of the original assessed value of the site.” Mayor Katie Anderson stated. The council voted to approve the amendment, with Council Member Buchanan voting in opposition, stating that Metro Plains wouldn’t need a tax exemption considering they had already received roughly $600,000 in funding for the site. Council Member Gumke stated that “The council has the ability to either approve or deny the exemption if they ask for it.”

The board also heard from the Main Street Association, announcing that they had begun a re-branding process. The Airport Authority also had a representative come and thank the council for their support in selecting a new airline service.
