ROCKFORD (NewsDakota.com) In a District 7 match-up last night, the Carrington Cardinals beat the New Rockford/Sheyenne Rockets 50-41. Carrington improves to 5-1 overall, the Rockets drop to 2-5 overall.
The score was tied at 26 going into halftime, but Carrington would outscore New Rockford/Sheyenne 15-6 to take a 41-32 lead at the end of three quarters. The Cardinals had two players in double figures, Senior Jacey Engelhorn had 15 points including one 3-pointer and Senior Kayla Hochhalter added 11 points. Leading the way for the Rockets was Senior Renelle Allmaras with 13 points, including three 3-pointers, all in the first half. Senior Lacey Grann added 10 points.
Next up for Carrington will be in Carrington on Monday, January 13th against Velva. Pregame will start at 6:45pm on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com. The Carrington JV will be participating in the Girls Stutsman County Tournament at the Jamestown Civic Center starting this Thursday, they will play number three seed Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter at 7:30pm.
