LAKE (NewsDakota.com)- After getting their trip to Turtle Mountain postponded on Friday, the Jays were back on the road Tuesday night north to Devils Lake. The boys were held at arms length by the lethal shooting of the Firebirds and lost 73-63. While on the girls side, Jamestown rallied back from a 15-point first half hole to win 82-71.

The first three Devils Lake field goals in the boys game were three point baskets as they jumped out to an 11-2 advantage. Jamestown clawed their way back and grabbed a 25-21 with just two minutes left in the opening half. But Briar LaBeau had other ideas, he spanned halftime scoring 11 of the next 15 points for Devils Lake during a 15-2 lead.

Jamestown on a number of occasions was poised to make a run, but couldn’t break the nine point barrier. Finally with the clock winding down, the Jays pulled the lead down to five. But as they did in the first half, the Firebirds started lighting it up from beyond the arc to put the game away.

In the girls game, the Jays started flat and were down 20-5 out of the gates. With McKayla Orr on the bench after picking up her second foul, her teammates responded with a 31-12 run to close the half and took a 41-37 lead into halftime.

Paige Peterson had 27 points to lead Jamestown as her stellar senior campaign continues. She was cleared to play earlier in the day after suffering a concussion last week. Orr finished with 16. The girls improve to 2-3 on the season.

Jamestown will play at home twice this weekend. Dickinson on Friday and Saturday against Williston. Both games will be on 1400/97.1 KQDJ and NewsDakota.com
