(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School boys basketball team gave the defending State Class B basketball champions a fight for a good majority of Thursday night’s contest. Oakes was even within two possessions in the second half, but the Milnor Bison kept their undefeated streak going after defeating the hometown Tornadoes 77-56.

Milnor (9-0 4-0 District 1) lead by no more than 10 points after any of the first three quarters due to foul trouble and aggressive Oakes defense, but the Bison outscored Oakes (1-8 1-3 District 1) in the final eight minutes 20-10 to take the road victory.

Britton Bussman lead all scorers with 30 points for the victorious Bison, while Bryce Meehl dropped in 28 for the Tornadoes.

Oakes heads to Pingree on Saturday afternoon to take on Medina/Pingree-Buchanan. Coverage starts around 3:15 with tip around 3:30 p.m. on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com.
