(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School Girls basketball team will have to wait a while longer to earn their first victory in Class B District 1 play in the 2013-14 season; as Lisbon defeated the Lady Tornadoes 58-31 on Friday night.

The Lady Broncos (3-3 2-1 District 1) had a fast start with a 16-4 advantage after the first quarter. Oakes (1-7 0-2 District 1) came back in the second quarter and outscored Lisbon  16-15 to pull to within 11 at half. The hometown Tornadoes would come within 10 points after the intermission, but no closer.

Lisbon had 16 points from senior Saraya Diebert, Oakes was lead in scoring by Shelby Gelinske who had 11 in the loss.

Next up for Oakes is a home game on Tuesday with Edgeley-Kulm-Montpeiler as part of a doubleheader with the boys teams. The Rebels defeated Oakes in the third place game of the Dakota Holiday Tournament in late December.
