(NewsDakota.com)- Jamestown hosted Minot in West Region hockey on Friday night and it took overtime to decide the outcome.

The Jays scored 13 seconds into the game on a goal by Jacob Miller. Minot scored the next four and led 4 to 1 heading to the third. Brandon Stahlhut snapped in a shot from the blue line early in the third to get Jamestown back in the game.

When Minot scored with seven minutes to go, it appeared it was all but over. Stahlhut scored his second of the game with 2:22 to go, and the remarkable comeback was on. Jakobi Lux scored just 17 seconds later to make it a 5-4 game. Jamestown pulled the goalie for the extra skater in the final minute, and Austin Rene buried the puck with :40 seconds to go to tie the game.

Jamestown kept the pressure on early in o.t., and nearly won it when Rene hit the post. Shortly there after, Minot spun the puck out to center ice and caught Hayden Schwarz on a break away, and he beat Brian Wenzel to win it at the 2:01 mark of overtime.

“What a great effort from our kids in that third period. We never gave up.” said head coach Matt Stockert. Minot outshot Jamestown 33 to 28. The Blue Jays fall to 3-7 overall, and 3-5 in the West Region. Minot continues it’s hot streak with 10 wins in the past 12 games as the Magicians improve to 8-3-1 overall and 6-1 in the WDA.

Next up for the Jays is a West Region home game with Dickinson on Tuesday night at Wilson Arena. Drop of the puck is set for 7:30 pm on 103.1 The Raven.
