(NewsDakota.com) No upsets in the opening round of the tourney on Thursday, but last night was a different story as the No. 2 seeded South Border Mustangs fell in the last semifinal game of the day at the Jamestown Civic Center. Once again four games were played yesterday, here are the results:
Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier 59 Warwick 39
The Rebels improve to 3-3 as they beat Warwick in the first consolation round yesterday. Kelsey Feist led the way for EKM with 14 points. Warwick is still looking for a victory this year, right now they are 0-6. The Lady Warriors were led by Kaylean Lohnas and Whisper Gourd with 11 each. Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier took 75 shots from the field and made 20 of them for 26%.
Carrington JV 58 Midkota/Kensal 31
Brooke Rosenau scored 12 points to help Carrington move into the consolation championship later on this afternoon at 4:30pm. The Mustangs were led by Brooke Ronningen and Taylor Sabinash with eight points each. Carrington JV is 5-1, Midkota/Kensal is 0-5.
Ellendale 69 Medina/Pingree/Buchanan 50
In the first semifinal game last night, No. 1 seeded Ellendale Cardinals move into the Championship game with a convincing victory over the Thunder. Madilyn Bommersbach poured in 22 points included three 3-pointers for Ellendale. MPB was led by Morgan and Jordan Thomas with 13 each. Ellendale is 6-1, the Thunder drop to 4-2.
Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 59 South Border 56
In the first upset of the tourney, the No. 3 seeded Imperials overcame a 37-31 deficit at halftime to move into the championship game with Ellendale. Mariah Jangula led all scorers with 25 points for the Imperials. Morgan Schnabel had 15 points for South Border. Napoleon/GS improves to 5-3, the Mustangs drop to 4-2.
