N.D (NewsDakota.com) In a rematch of a week one game, the Valley City Hi-Liners repeated history in the state’s capitol defeating Bismarck St. Mary’s Central High School 60-23 for the second time this year.

Defense was once again the staple for the Hi-Liners who held St. Mary’s top scorers off the board. A night after combining for 30 points in St. Mary’s first win of the season, the Saints duo of Sarah Stoltz and Katelyn Schaffner would not even eclipse double digits.

Taking a 28-12 lead into the break, the Hi-Liners would come out in the second half with the same onslaught of defense. Forcing turnovers and finishing plays, three different Hi-Liners would end the night in double digits.

Dierra Diegel led the Hi-Liners with 14 points, Jessica Denholm added 12 points to the visitor’s side of the scoreboard, and Clarissa Olson would finish the day with 10.

The win advances Valley City to 4-2 on the season.

The Girls head back to the court on Jan 17th when they host Lisbon at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
