(NewsDakota.com)  The Cardinal girls welcomed the Aggies of Velva tonight to the High School Gymnasium in Carrington.  Carrington came from behind and beat the Aggies 54-41 to improve to 6-1 overall, Velva suffers their first loss of the year and are 5-1.

Velva jumped out to a 23-13 lead in the first half, but the Cards would go on a 15-3 run to end the second quarter and take the lead for good at halftime 28-26.  Senior Jacey Engelhorn led the way for Carrington with 18 points, Senior Forward Kayla Hochhalter had 12 points including two 3-pointers.  Senior Madison Wendel added seven points and four blocked shots.  Both teams combined for 56 turnovers, Carrington shot 83% from the charity stripe.  

Next up for Carrington is this Friday night in Carrington against Central Cass for a girls and boys doubleheader.  Girls will tip at 6:30pm, boys at 8pm.  Expect pregames about 15 minutes before each game on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com.
