CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) Valley City State Men’s and Women’s basketball teams returned home to W.E. Osmon field house on Monday night where both squads earned victories against Trinity Bible College.

It was the fifth straight win for the Women’s team who defeated the Lions 83-32 in the opening contest of the night. Valley City had 10 different players make the score sheet while three of them finished in double digits. Brittany Lehner led the Vikings with 17 points in the game while Ashli Lee and Tarah Cleveland each knocked down 11 on the night.

The win advances Valley City to 9-6 on the year.

After a three point loss on Saturday night to Johnson and Wales, the Men’s team would find their way back to the win column in a 105-66 routing of Trinity Bible.

For the second straight game, Russell Robinson would post a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.  While the Chicago Native was pulling down the boards, Mac Kroeplin was shooting the lights out. The freshmen guard was 9 of 14 from the field finishing with a game high of 20 points.  AJ McDonald and Quinton Peterson would finish off the double figures quartet with 12 points apiece.

Shooting nearly 60 percent from the field the Vikings reached a team high 67 points at the half. The final score is also the first time this season that the Vikings have past the century mark.  

Valley City’s new 6-10 record will be tested on Wednesday,  January 15th when they  host a grudge match with Johnson and Wales College. The girls will open the day of play at 5:30pm with the men playing shortly after the final buzzer. Hear both games on 1490 KOVC.
