N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A new power plant near Spiritwood, East of Jamestown, should be on line later this year.

The 99 megawatt Spiritwood station was built by Great River Energy. Lyndon Anderson is a company spokesman.

The lignite fired power plant will provide steam to the existing Cargill Malt plant nearby. Great River Energy says that makes the Spiritwood station the first of its kind in the state.
