(NewsDakota.com)  After hosting Central Cass last Friday night in Carrington, the Cardinal girls basketball team will be at home again tonight for a District 7 showdown with No. 9 Lakota/Edmore.  The Cardinal boys team will be on the road tonight in Langdon.  The Cardinal boys and girls teams were swept last Friday night by the Central Cass Squirrels.  Here are the results:

GIRLS:  No. 5 Central Cass 68  Carrington 62

The Cardinal girls were ahead by one point going into halftime, but foul trouble and only scoring two points in the fourth quarter would help the Squirrels cap the victory.  Central Cass ended the game on an 18-2 run in the fourth quarter.  Senior Center Faith Dooley had a game high 26 points for Central Cass.  Jacey Engelhorn led the way for Carrington with 15 points, followed by Kayla Hochhalter, who fouled out, with 11.  Carrington made 22 field goals and had eight 3-pointers.  Carrington drops to 6-2, Central Cass improves to 6-1.

Next up for the Carrington girls will be tonight in Carrington against No. 9 Lakota/Edmore.  Pregame will start tonight about 7pm on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com.

BOYS:  Central Cass 69  Central Cass 58

The Carrington boys basketball team have dropped five in a row as they lost to the Squirrels last Friday night in Carrington.  They are 5-5 overall this year, Central Cass improves to 6-4.  Carrington led at halftime 38-35, but only scored six points in the fourth quarter compared to 22 from Central Cass.  Jake Edlund was the only player in double figures and led the way for Carrington with 21 points.  The Squirrels were led by Tommy Voss with 19 points.  Carrington shot 18/43 from the field for 41%.  Central Cass took 55 shots from the field and made 24 of them.

Next up for the Carrington boys will be tonight, at District 8 team, Langdon.
