N.D (NewsDakota.com) Four Hi-Liners reached double digits as the Valley City girls basketball team captured their fourth consecutive win 50-36 on the road at Fargo South.

The win advances Valley city to 2-2 in the Eastern Dakota Conference, with a 7-2 overall record. Fargo South falls to 3-5 in the EDC with a season record of 3-6.

The two sides changed leads throughout the first half; it wouldn’t be until midway through the second half that Valley City would start to pull away. Jessica Denholm started a run by hitting a three pointer that put Valley City up by nine points. Moments later, the Hi-Liners point guard would steal the ball on the base line and feed the pass to Dierra Digel for an easy lay in. The Hi-Liners would not relinquish the lead again in the game.

While VCHS struggled to pull down rebounds over Fargo South’s Nya Chakin (8 rebounds) and Emily Stroup (11 rebounds), the Hi-Liners would come away with nine steals in another outstanding defensive effort.

Those turn overs would lead to points, as once again Dierra Diegel led the way for Valley City with 15 points. Clarissa Olson, Jessica Denholm, and Madison Taylor would all finish the night with 10 points apiece.

The Bruins were led on the score sheet by Maddie Erickson who knocked down 10 point in the contest.

Valley City will have a week off before their next game. They will host Wahpeton on January 28th at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
