(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes Public School is seeking the assistance of area farmers in the hopes of earning grant money to be used for math and science programs.
Farmers who raise at least 250 acres of corn or soybeans can nominate the school for “The America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education program”; a fund that is sponsored by Monsanto.
To nominate the school, farmers can fill out a simple nomination form via Monsanto’s website.
In 2013, the Carrington, Edgeley, and Milnor school districts each earned $10,000 grants, and Jamestown Public Schools was awarded a $25,000 grant. In total, Monsanto will award $2.3 million in grants to schools throughout the country this year.
The deadline to nominate is April 21, and districts who receive grants will be announced in August.
