N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Area farmers are invited to attend an informational meeting about industrial beet production. There are five proposed sites in North Dakota. Industrial beets are sugar beets bred for the bio-fuels market.
A processing facility site is dependent on the availability of beet feedstock supplies in the proposed growing area according to NDSU Bio-energy economist David Ripplinger.

NDSU Extension Educator Randy Grueneich says the first meeting will be held in Valley City on Tuesday, January 28 at the Eagles Club at 9am.
The meetings will update farmers on industrial beet processing development efforts in the state and answer grower questions about industrial beet production.
Another meeting will be held Tuesday, January, 28 from 1pm to 3pm at the Farmers Union Headquarters in Jamestown.
On Wednesday, January 29 a meeting will be held in Carrington at the Research Extension Center from 9am to 11am.
Other meetings will be in Cando on Wednesday, January 29 at 1pm in the NDSU Extension Service office and in Landon at the Research Extension Center Thursday, January 30 at 9am. The public is encouraged to attend any of these meetings.
The development of beets as an industrial crop is a partnership between Green Vision Group based in Fargo and Heartland Renewable Energy based in Iowa. The research component is led by NDSU.
