SD (NewsDakota.com) -Saturday the University of Jamestown traveled to Aberdeen to take on Presentation College in the their first NSAA road games of the season. It didn’t take long for the Jimmie women to bounce back from their second setback of the season with a 105-61 win. The men picked up their fifth-straight win, 77-63 to get their 10th win of the season.

The women were lead in scoring by Jordan Bridges who scored 21 points while pulling down four offensive rebounds. Jamestown was never really threatened in this game as they pulled out to an early lead and were able to continually add to it as the game progressed.

The Jimmies are now 19-2 (1-1) with their only two losses coming to No. 2 Northwestern and No. 16 Mayville St., they will get at least one more crack at the Comets.

We may have seen the first game of a budding rivalry in the men’s game. “It was a man’s game today,” Coach Justin Wieck explained after the game about what he called the second most intense game he has coached in during his two seasons at Jamestown. The national qualifying win over Rochester last February is number one on that list.

At halftime, with the Jimmies fired up after a big defensive stop to close the half, they sprinted off the court and were met by Saints’ big man Nick Gillett who allegedly chest bumped Brequan Tucker. No punches were thrown and the team descended to their locker rooms without incident.

Mark Hoge poured in 28 points while Tucker added 17. The Jimmies had to hold off a rally from the Saints in the second half after Jamestown pushed their lead north of 20. Presentation got back within eight, but the Jimmies responded with six straight points to push the lead back to 16 and weren’t seriously threatened again.

Jamestown heads to Valley City on Wednesday night to battle the Vikings. Game times are 5:30pm and 7:30pm at W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse. Broadcast can be heard on 1400/97.1 KQDJ.
