CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Here’s an update on the Valley City house fire at 545 4th avenue southwest that destroyed the home on January 28.
Fire Chief Gary Retterath says the mother and 2 children escaped serious injuries after they jumped out a 2nd story bedroom window. The three suffered scratches on their legs after they hit a porch roof and bounced off and fell on the ground.
Retterath says one fire fighter suffered smoke inhalation as he was turning off the natural gas connection in the back of the house.
The home was destroyed and the American Red Cross is assisting the Valley City family displaced by the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
