(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School girls basketball team was looking forward to playing their first game at home since January 14 on Thursday night. 

It ended up being the worst lost by point margin this season for the Lady Tornadoes, falling 64-24 to the Sargent Central Cadets.

Oakes (3-14 0-6 Class B District 1) was down by 10 after the first eight minutes, and was outscored by Sargent Central (8-5 6-0 District 1) 20-6 in the third quarter to send the hometown Tornadoes to their sixth straight loss, and remain winless in district play. 

The visiting Cadets had three players score more than 10 points: Hannah Schlect (16), Tiffany Beaver (14) and Cayla Enderson (12). Oakes had a team high eight points from Lydia Hansen.

Oakes will host Wyndmere-Lidgerwood on Tuesday evening in the final District 1 game of the year. Both teams remain without a District 1 victory. Coverage will start around 7:15 p.m. on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com
