(NewsDakota.com) In their final attempt of earning a victory in their Class B District 1 Schedule for the 2013-14 season, the Oakes High School girls basketball fell to Wyndmere-Lidgerwood 51-46 on Tuesday night.
The Lady Warbirds (4-14, 1-6 Class B District 1) earned their first victory in District 1 play thanks to 15 points from Peyton Frolik. Oakes made a late rally in the fourth quarter, outscoring Wyndmere-Lidgerwood 20-15, but were unable to get any closer than two points in the final minutes of play. Oakes was lead in scoring by Shelby Roney with 13 points.
Oakes ends the District 1 season with a mark of 0-7, and will head to Fairmount two weeks from Friday to start the Class B District 1 Tournament to face #7 Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah in the opening round. Oakes lost in Farimount to the Lady Rebels 73-39 on January 30.
The Lady Tornadoes (3-15 0-7) will host Barnes County North a week from Friday in their final regular season game of 2013-14. Coverage will start at 7:15, with tip at 7:30 on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com.
