N.D. (AP) – The presiding judge of the North Central Judicial District in North Dakota is retiring after a long career.

Minot-based Judge William McLees says he’ll step down at the end of June. He was elected a district judge in 1994 after serving as a county judge since 1983.

Before his judicial career, the Valley City native was in private legal practice in Watford City from 1976-1982.
