CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liners boy’s and girl’s basketball teams had their nights spoiled by Fargo South on Thursday night. In the regular season finale, the Bruins boys defeated Valley City 77-55 and the girls upset the Hi-Liners 61-46 in the night cap.

The night got started with boy’s game. The Hi-Liners started strong taking the lead early with help from Jared Lentz and Ian Schweitzer, who each finished the second half with 10 points. However the play of the Bruins proved to be to strong, as they would take back the advantage just before the end of the first half and enter the break with a four point lead.

In the second half, Fargo South came out strong and kept the pressure on to capture their 11th win of the season. Colton Lloyd led the way for the Bruins with 25 points in the game.

The Hi-Liners were led on the score sheet by Lentz who finished the game with 19 points. Ian Schweitzer would finish the game with 10.

The Hi-Liners finish the season with a 2-14 over all record. They will play Grand Forks Central on Saturday afternoon in a Eastern Dakota Conference play in game.

After the boys game, the girls took the court. The Hi-Liners would find it hard to score points thanks in part to the combination of Nya Chakin and Emily Stroup, who eclipsed the post. The Bruins duo would also pull down 23 of South’s 38 rebounds.

The Hi-Liners would find a majority of their points from Dierra Diegel who finished the night with a team high 19 points.

The Bruins would have two double-doubles in the game from Chakin (10 points, 12 rebound) and Stroup (19 points, 11 rebounds).

Despite the loss, the Hi-Liners still clinched home court advantage for the opening round of the EDC, due to Fargo Norths loss to Fargo Shanley. The Hi-Liners will host Fargo North in the opening round of the conference tournament on Tuesday, March 4th. You can hear the match up on 1490 KOVC.
