(NewsDakota.com)- Former Jamestown Blue Jay Jake Stilwell is in the middle of a magical run with his Winnipeg Blues teammates. Stilwell was an all-stater for the Jays last season and is playing his first season of Junior Hockey in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Winnipeg finished fourth in the MJHL’s Addison Division during the regular season, but have been on a tear throughout the postseason. First, they had to play their way into the tournament with a best-of-three series sweep against the division’s No. 5-seed.

The prize for winning that series was a date with No. 1-seed Selkirk who had won a league-best 49 games, but the Blue rolled past that best-of-seven series winning four out of five. They followed suit with another 4-1 series victory taking down Steinbach to advance to the championship series.

Stilwell scored a first-period goal in game three to pace Winninpeg to a 1-0 lead en route to their 7-2 victory.

The Blues will play the Dauphin Kings, winners of the Sher-wood division, in the championship. The Kings have not lost in the postseason and are a perfect 8-0.
