CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Rescue crews are searching for a man after 3 men fell out of a rubber raft on the Sheyenne River in Valley City early this morning. Fire Chief Gary Retterath says 2 men were rescued by Valley City police officer’s and local citizens this morning as the two men were in the river near a dam in southwest Valley City.

Retterath says the two men rescued are recovering in Mercy Hospital. He says the first call for help came about 1:20a.m.

Retterath says water releases out of Bald Hill Dam have been reduced to help rescue crews search for the missing person.

Retterath says members of Valley Water & Rescue out of Fargo are assisting Vally City crews by using a sonar device to help search for the missing man.

Retterath says the river is dangerous and people should stay off the river especially while the current is this swift.

Valley City Barnes County Fire & Rescue crews have been on the scene since 1:30 this morning.
