N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Reservoir will be experiencing gate changes and inspections tonight and part of tomorrow.

Bob Martin, Pipestem Dam Manager, stated that the Dam would begin to drop from 400 cubic feet per second to just 200 cfs. By 9:00 PM tonight, it will go from 200 cfs to 0.

“The Bureau will be making gate changes at the Jamestown Reservoir and there is a scheduled inspection of outlet works taking place.” Martin stated. The drop is expected to last for about 24 hours.

“This inspection is part of Reclamation’s Safety of Dams Program,” said Darrin Goetzfried, Deputy of Facilities and Engineering for the Bureau of Reclemation. “This program focuses on evaluating and implementing actions to resolve safety concerns at Reclamation dams. Under this program, Reclamation will complete studies and identify and accomplish needed corrective action on Reclamation dams.”

Martin also stated that there will be a noticeable drop in the depth of the river downstream from the ice house dam. The flow will also still be coming out at 50 cfs from Pipestem. The dam is expected to be back at 400 cfs by tomorrow evening.
