CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City State softball team was honored with numerous postseason awards from the North Star Athletic Association on Monday night. Five Vikings players made the All-Conference team. Brittany Lehner and Head coach Elle Fracker, were named player and coach of the year.

In her senior season, Lehner, led the Vikings at the dish with a .382 batting average. The Watertown, South Dakota native was a big help at the plate for VCSU driving in 27 RBI’s and sending six home runs over the wall. With a .409 on base percentage, Lehener was nearly a sure thing.

In her first season as the Head Coach, Fracker led the Vikings to their first regular season championship since 1990. Under the former Indian State Sycamore, the Vikings earned a 10-2 conference record and finished the year 22-21.

The Six Vikings who received All-Conference honors: at second base sophomore Katie Cameron, third baseman Liz Hall-Sewell, designated player Cejay Hilhorst, and outfielder Savannah McMillin. Lehner would also make the all-conference team as an at Large.  

Thridbaseman , Hall-Sewell was also honored as the final Player-of-the-Week Award winner in the North Star. In the conference tournament, the North Pole, Alaska native was 5-for-7 at the plate with two home runs and a double. She drove in four runs and had an outstanding slugging percentage of 1.714 in the postseason.
