CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Dave Vareberg was awarded the outstanding member of the North Dakota Disabled American Veterans earlier this year at the organizations annual convention in Jamestown.

In the featured photo to the left, Vareberg receives the award from DAV member Eldred Knutson during their annual DAV banquet on May 14 at the VFW Club in Valley City.

Vareberg is now eligible to receive the national honor along with many other across the U-S during a national convention to be held later this year. Vareberg served previously as the chapter 24 commander and now serves as adjutant/treasurer. Vareberg was also elected as senior vice commander for the State Disabled American Veterans.

The Valley City chapter also received an award for the outstanding chapter for the 2013-2014 year. The unit also won the Americanism award, community service, junior unit, hospital and DAV’s legislation for the 2013-2014 year.

During the awards banquet in Valley City new elected commander Jim Drong honored Eldred Knutson for his service to the local chapter.

And newly elected commander Elaine Walls honored several members for their service to the Disabled American Veterans chapter 24 in Valley City.
