N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council met in a special session on Thursday, May 22nd to discuss the final plat of Menards as well as Reciprocal Easements and Restrictive Covenants on Lots 1, 2 & 4.
Timing was an issue with the initial agreement. Negotiations of the agreement lacked clear language, prompting an additional clause that addressed those concerns, but the final agreement didn’t come until late Wednesday night. Council members received copies at 11 AM Thursday morning and at 4 PM, the Council didn’t have the version with the additional clause. That timing became an issue with Council members Dan Buchanan and Steve Brubakken.
Mayor Katie Andersen reminded the council that the agreement was similar to the plan agreed to earlier this year, with the added clause from City Attorney Ken Dalstead. Objections were raised from both Brubakken and Buchanan. The council ultimately approved the project on a 3 to 2 vote, with Brubakken and Buchanan voting in opposition.
