(Rick) K. Walburn, age 68, of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, June 3rd at his home. A memorial gathering for friends and family was held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm Friday, June 6th at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly and Jersey Ridge in Davenport. Richard was born in 1945 in Edgeley, ND, to Lester and Alvira Walburn. He graduated from Edgeley High School in 1963. Richard was a veteran of the US Navy, having served his country for 4 years during Vietnam. After his service, Richard went back to school and graduated from Valley City State University with a BA in History. He spent a lifelong career in retail, first for 25 years as a store manager for Kmart, and then most recently for 15 years with Rite Aid. Richard was a member of CASI, as well as St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He was a Michigan State fan, who was slowly converting to cheer for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was friendly and a man of few words, but was still able to speak volumes. He enjoyed his dog Misty, and thoroughly loved any time spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Stacey (Brian) Hetzler of Davenport, and Collin (Cherie) Walburn of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Adriana and Madison Walburn, and Brynn and Carson Hetzler; and a sister, Joan (Tom) Downham of Laramie, WY. Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Carol.

Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 14, 2014 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley, ND.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 14, 20914 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, ND.
