Evelyn Olson, age 96, of Arthur, ND, formerly of Valley City, ND, died Wednesday, October 8th at the Arthur Good Samaritan Society.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 16th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church near Dazey, ND. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Thursday afternoon.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery near Dazey, ND.

Evelyn Emilia Kunze, the daughter of August and Anna (Fieber) Kunze, was born September 16, 1918 in Dazey, ND.  Anna attended Moore rural school.  At the age of seventeen, Evelyn moved to Minneapolis, MN where she worked as a waitress for fourteen years.  During this time, she met her future husband, Richard Olson.  On February 23, 1952 the couple were married in Minneapolis.  In 1958, the couple purchased a resort and restaurant in Garrison, MN.  Richard passed away in 1960, Evelyn then sold the business and returned to Minneapolis where she worked for Snyder Drug.  After her retirement, she moved back to Garrison, MN and later to the Pequot Lakes, MN area.  Evelyn loved to volunteer and bake things for her many friends.  She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Garrison where she belonged to the church Guild.  In 2007, Evelyn moved to Bridgeview Estates in Valley City.  In 2012, she moved to the Arthur Good Samaritan Society.  She was also an honorary member of the Bay Lake Ladies Aid.  Evelyn enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching football and basketball games and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.

Evelyn is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Paul, Alfred and Oscar; four sisters, Hilda, Gora, Lillian and Bertha.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff from the Good Samaritan Society for the wonderful care given to Evelyn.
