CENTER, IA (NewsDakota.com) – The schedule is not an easy one for the Jimmie men’s basketball team and they headed to Iowa this weekend to battle Dordt College and Northwestern College. Both teams are perennial national tournament teams, but going through some transitions. Dordt was without star Dalton Franken who tore his ACL and Northwestern started three freshman in just their second collegiate game.

Jamestown was able to head home Saturday evening with a split. They dropped Friday night’s game against Dordt in front of a packed house, 84-68. The Jimmies lead 38-33 at the half, but the Defenders dominated the second half. Five players in double figures helped Dordt to a 51-30 second half advantage.

Brequan Tucker had 15 at half, but only score two in the second stanza.

On Saturday, the Jimmies put together two halves of basketball and were able to knock off the Red Raiders who received votes in the preseason top-25. In the second half, Jamestown held off a few Northwestern rallies. The Red Raiders trailed by nine at the half and on a few different occasions got within one possession but never took the lead.

Logan Brown had a breakout game, he made four-of-four triples and lead the team with 20 points, 18 of which came after halftime. Tucker and Jake Hagler also were in double-figures.

The Jimmies play at Dakota Wesleyan on Friday night against another team that is receiving votes in the top-25. Saturday they will stay in Mitchell to battle No. 6 Bellevue.
