CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City voters narrowly approved of a concept to build a Health, Wellness and Physical Education Center in Tuesday’s election. The measure passed with 51 percent.

Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation board member Jennifer Feist thanks voters for their support of the project. She says construction on the facility could begin next year.

Board member Dick Gulmon is happy with the results. He thanked the people who worked hard to make this Wellness Center facility concept possible.

Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation administrator Andrea Nelson says a drive to raise another $4 million will begin soon.

The $16 million facility is a joint venture with the Valley City Park & Recreation Department, CHI Mercy Health and Valley City State University. Last month VCSU students voted to increase their student fees to help fund the facility.
