FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Fargo Davies won their first-ever Class AAA football championship Friday night at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. A second-half surge propelled the Eagles passed a Minot team that was peaking at the right time.

Last week, Minot played David to Bismarck High’s Goliath, but the magical run was cut short of a title. Davies rattled off 34 unanswered points to race away with a 41-10 win.

Minot scored on a 1-yard touchdown from Junior QB Ben Bolinske to take a 10-7 lead midway through the second quarter. Two snaps later the Hartness brothers connected on the games longest pass play. A 74-yard strike gave Davies a lead they would not relinquish.

The halftime score had Davies ahead 14-10 and the second half was a trip behind the woodshed for the Magi. The Eagles scored 17 third quarter points and it was never close again.

JD Arguelles put the exclamation point on the championship when he intercepted Bolinske and took it 45-yards for the final touchdown. Davies added a late field goal for the final tally, 41-10.
