CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A Valley City man face a number of charges after police responded to a domestic disturbance in Valley City around midnight.

Police Chief Fred Thompson says 28 year-old Joe Allen Uffelman allegedly threw a woman to the ground. The female victim told police that the man had a loaded shotgun and was threatening to shoot anyone who came in the door.

Officers and Barnes County Sheriff’s deputies took up position around the residence at 714 Viking Drive, knocked on the door, enter the home and found Uffelman unconscious with a shotgun at his side.

Uffelman was arrested and was charged with domestic battery, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. He has a previously conviction for felony burglary.
