N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – An Indiana man is in jail in Hillsboro after trying to escape following a court appearance at the Traill county courthouse last week.

29 year-old Eric Baldwin had just pleaded guilty to burglary for trying to break into the warming house at the outdoor ice rink. Sheriff Mike Crocker says Baldwin ran about a block before he was caught by deputies. Baldwin is wanted in Jasper, Indiana for stealing a donation jar to benefit a family in need from the counter of a convenience store.

Crocker says he doesn’t know why Baldwin was in Hillsboro.
