CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City State Women’s basketball team picked up their fourth straight win Wednesday night with a 66-59 win on the road at Concordia-Moorhead College.

The Vikings offense was at their best shooting 44% from the field while strong defense kept the Cobbers to just 35%.

After losing in the lead in the opening minutes, VCSU stayed tight to the home team never trailing by more then six points in the game. Just before halftime Georgia Williams dropped a three pointer from the left heal to bring the Vikings to within one.

In the second half the Vikings would take back the lead with about six minutes to play when Allyson Suhr scored on a lay up then followed that up with a point from the free throw line after. The Vikings never gave up the lead after that.

Williams led all scorers in the game with 19 points. Lexi Lennon came off the bench to add 13 points. On the glass, Sierra Even had a team high 9 boards in the game to help the Vikings out rebound the Cobbers 44-37.

Alley Fisher had 15 points for the Cobbers in the loss, while Olivia Johnson garbed a game high 13 rebounds and scored 14 points for the double-double.

The win advances the Viking st 7-4 on the year. VCSU is 9-19 lifetime against the Cobbers. However, Valley has won the last three meetings between the two squads dating back to 2005.

The Vikings return to the court next Friday, December 19th  when they host the University of Minnesota-Morris in a women’s/men’s double header. That game can be heard on 1490 KOVC at 5:15pm.
