(NewsDakota.com) – The first of two days in Denver started out right for the Jimmie men’s and women’s basketball teams as they each beat Johnson & Wales on Friday night.

The women got a combined 43 from Chelsey Frydenlund (23) and Jessica Buck (20) to pace their 73-59 win. Jamestown fell behind quickly 6-0 but once they took the lead a few minutes later they didn’t trail again.

The men’s game was a little more interesting. Jamestown won 92-83, but almost blew a 22-point lead. The Jimmies lead by 19 at half, eventually extending it to 22 after the break.

Suddenly the shots started falling for the Wildcats. They trimmed that once seemingly insurmountable lead down to five. “I thought they made some really tough shots,” said assistant coach Danny Neville after the game “We were defending them well, the ball was just going in.”

Brequan Tucker did Brequan Tucker things and scored another 23 points after scoring 29 against JWU on Saturday in Jamestown.

Saturday’s games start at 1pm and 3pm CT and can be heard on ESPN Jamestown and NewsDakota.com.
