CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liner girls basketball team ended the regular season on Tuesday night with a 71-58 loss to the West Fargo Packers. 

From the start of the game, the two teams centers made the statement that the game would be won in the post. Sending shot after shot down from the blocks, West Fargo’s Akealy Moton posted 25 points in the opening half. Not to be out done, Valley City’s Brenna Dieterle pounded her way under the basket drawing seven fouls and finishing the opening period with 14 points.

In the second half, West Fargo turned to other means of scoring as Jenaya Wentz scored eight of here 11 points in the final period. Valley’s Clair Olson followed suit with a 12 point game. 

In the end, a late game run would be the difference for West Fargo to claim the 13 point win to complete the season sweep. 

Moton led all scorers in the game with 25 points and six rebounds. Dieterle finished the game 12 of 14 from the free throw line and posted a team high 20 points for Valley City. 

The Hi-Liners end the regular season 7-14 overall and 6-14 in the Eastern Dakota Conference. The Hi-Liners will play a EDC play-in game later this week for a chance to make the EDC post season tournament.
