ND  (NewsDakota.com)  The semifinal round of the 2015 Girls Region 3 Basketball Tourney was last night at the Jamestown Civic Center with four teams vying for the championship game on Thursday night.  Both Carrington and Lamoure/Litchville-Marion won their respective games last night and both teams earn their 20th victory of the year and will advance to the championship game.  The winner of the championship game on Thursday night will advance to the State Class B Girls Basketball Tournament in Minot starting March 5th.    

Carrington 44  Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 35

In their first year in Region 3, Carrington is making their presence known.  It’s been four years since the Lady Cardinals have advanced to a Region Championship game.  In that year, 2011, they won the Region 4 championship and then went on to beat Central Cass for the State Title.

Kauri Hochhalter led the way for Carrington with 10 points and eight rebounds.  Senior Brooke Rosenau was held to just four points but pulled down 12 rebounds.  The Cardinals forced 23 turnovers against NGS and had 13 total steals.  Hochhalter and Freshman Haley Hewitt had five and four steals respectively, Hewitt had eight points as well off the bench for Carrington.  The Imperials shot only 27% from the field, the Cards shot 31%.

Lamoure/Litchville-Marion 37  Kidder County 34

The second game of the evening featured seven lead changes and six ties with the Loboes winning it late in the fourth quarter.  Anna Holen led the way for LLM with 17 points.  The Lady Pirates, the defending Region 3 champs, were led by Jenna Nicholson and Rebecca Schmidt both with 13 points.
