(NewsDakota.com) A second half surge by the Maple Valley girls basketball team was not enough in the end with a 52-45 loss to Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah in one of two Class B Region I semifinal games that took place on Tuesday at the Fargo Civic Memorial Auditorium.

F-C-T (22-1) started out with an 8-0 run in the first two minutes of the game, and Maple Valley (19-5) ended the first half with 13 points and 15 turnovers. The start of the second half saw almost a complete transformation from the Lady Raiders, as Rylee Nudell scored 13 of her team high 29 points in the first four minutes of the third quarter.

Maple Valley was able to close in to within a single point two different times in the final eight minutes, but was never able to have a lead in the contest. F-C-T had a team high 19 points from Allison Grefsrud.

In the other Class B Region I Semifinal, Kindred kept their undefeated season going with a 60-51 win over Central Cass.

Thursday’s play starts at 6 p.m. with the Third Place game featuring the Lady Raiders against Central Cass. Coverage will start around 5:45 p.m. on Q101.1 FM and NewsDakota.com.
