FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) For the third time this season Grand Forks Central girls defeated Valley City on the basketball court by a score of 63-59.

The loss eliminates the Hi-Liners from the Eastern Dakota Conference Tournament. They end the season 7-16 overall. 

The Hi-Liners got out to a hot start taking a 12-0 lead at the start of the game. As the saying goes, basketball is a game of runs, and the games second run came from the Knights who posted a 16-5 run to take back the lead. In the post Jess Longtin knocked down the first two points to get the Knights started.

Valley’s Sadie Klingenberg battled her way to the rack in the opening half knocking down 11 points and keeping Valley within three points of the Knights at the break. 

In the second half, the two teams traded leads, with 13 points Clair Olson would help the Hi-Liners take the lead. The Knights would take back the lead with the three point shooting of Angelica Medrano who scored 21 of her 26 points in the second half. In the final seconds of the game with the Hi-Liners tailing by three, Longtin hit two free throws to put the game out of reach for Valley City.

The Hi-Liners say good bye to five seniors in the spring. They will return two players from their starting five.
