N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – University of Jamestown annually awards competitive academic scholarships to incoming freshmen. Candidates for the competition are selected based on academic achievements. The competition takes place on campus where candidates are interviewed and take part in an essay-writing competition. Two separate competitions take place in November and February using the same judging criteria.

Three candidates were awarded a four-year full tuition scholarship. These candidates are Alexandra Hill of Oakes, ND who will be majoring in Elementary Education, Maggie Erickson of Jamestown, ND who will be majoring in Accounting, and Paul Gibson of Akron, OH who will be majoring in history. In addition, each contest resulted in one student being awarded a $14,000 annual Wilson scholarship. These award winners were Jamie Haggard of Park Rapids, MN and Jordyn Wendorff of Breckenridge, MN.

16 incoming students were also awarded $12,000 annual Distinguished Scholar awards. These students are Isaac Wahlin of Bismarck ND, Sydney Kor of Piedmont SD, Jared Berntson of Jamestown ND, Taylor Heisler of Casselton ND, Andrea Heier of Edgeley ND, Jeff Joseph of Lake Worth FL, Addison Olson of Dickinson ND, Colton Lund of Sawyer ND, Alexis Piatz of Oxbow ND, Annabel Jiran of Grand Forks ND, Srah Porter of Hanford CA, Kyle Glander of Fargo ND, Rainey Selvig of Jamestown ND, Benjamin Prochniak of West Fargo ND, Matthew Young of Woodland WA, and Jayci McCrory of Bemidji MN.

The remainder of the candidates will receive a $10,000 annual Presidential Scholarship.
