N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A family was displaced after a fire started in their home early Sunday morning in Sheldon.

The Ransom County Sheriff’s Department responded to the home at around 3:00 AM after the family smelled smoke coming from the attic. The family and a guest were able to escape the home safely and fire crews put out the fire quickly. An electrical issue was considered the cause of the fire.

Currently, the family is being helped with lodging at a hotel in West Fargo by the American Red Cross.
