N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department is warning residents and businesses of counterfeit bills that have been circulated in the community.
According to Police, five reports of fake money being used to pay for goods and services in Jamestown were received. Denominations of $5, $50, and $100 bills were used. One business was found to have received 17 $100 bills that were used to purchase goods. Police believe the bills were made by the same people due to the poor-quality of the fake currency.
Clerks should watch for multiple large bills that have the same serial number and real money is never mis-cut or misprinted. If anyone receives counterfeit money in Jamestown, contact the Jamestown Police Department.
