Salberg, 91, of Valley City, ND, passed away on April 23, 2015, at Sheyenne Care Center.  Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, April 29, at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Valley City, ND.  Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.

Helen was born on March 31, 1924, in Litchville, North Dakota, to John and Inga (Christenson) Johnson.  She married Elmer Salberg on October 30, 1948. They moved to Valley City in 1954.

She was a member of Grace Free Lutheran Church and enjoyed attending services and gatherings with family and church friends.

Helen loved to spend quality time with her family.  She enjoyed her Taco Tuesdays and Friday night cards with Claudia.  Wednesday pizza night with family members was a special time for her.  Helen was a kind, soft spoken, and gentle mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She lived every day of her life with dignity and grace.  She will be greatly missed and loved forever.

Helen is survived by 6 children, Pat (Neil) Doty, David (Janel) Salberg, Claudia (Terry) Gilbertson, Ken (Denise Olson) Salberg, Jane Stallman, and Scott (Tess) Salberg; 17 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 siblings, Rodger Johnson, Mary Ann Slattum, and Carol Aune.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer; parents; a son, Jerry; a daughter, Sondra; and 6 siblings, Joe Johnson, Leonard Olafson, Alfie Linn, Heralda Keiski, Doris White, and Mildred Ring.

Helen’s family is especially grateful to the staff of the Sheyenne Care Center and CHI Hospice for the excellent care given to her.
